Life after Surgery

Lifestyle Change

Permanent weight loss is a product of both surgery and what you choose to DO and EAT after the procedure. Surgery is only a tool that will aid you in your lifestyle changes. Surgery alone will not take the pounds off AND keep them off.

A Lifelong commitment to adjusting your eating habits and regular exercise is essential.

For the first two weeks after your surgery, you will be consuming a sugar-free liquid diet. This will progress to a soft solid diet for the next 3-4 weeks following. 6 weeks after your surgery, you will be able to enjoy a regular HEALTHY diet at frequent intervals.

It is important to avoid the following food items.

  • Sugar
  • Soft untoasted bread
  • Steak in most instances
  • Carbonated drinks (these may stretch the pouch)
